November 15, 2018 | 3 Nations

On November 1, 2018, the 3 Nations (Tahltan, Kaska, Tlingit) – British Columbia Regional Partnership won the Premier’s Award in the Innovation category. The unique partnership was recognized for the ground-breaking approach that the Tahltan, Kaska, Tlingit, and the province of BC have taken in re-designing their relationship in the spirit and intent of reconciliation, the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action.

The initiative is specifically focussed on regional issues that are identified by 3 Nations as shared priorities and mutually agreed to by BC. A video, created by BC showcased the Tahltan, Kaska, and Tlingit homeland, their people, their culture, and highlighted the essence of their unique regional partnership.

The Premier’s Awards, hosted by Premier John Horgan and Don Wright, Deputy Minister to the Premier, took place in Victoria at the Victoria Convention Center.

3 Nations Society was represented at the Premier’s Award Ceremony by Tahltan, Kaska, and Tlingit leadership, Stikine Wholistic Working Group members, and technical representatives. BC was represented by staff from MIRR, MCFD, and FLNRORD who have worked closely with the 3 Nations Technical Staff on Children and Families, Wildlife, and Strategic Organizational Development.
